If you mean using cheaply priced cartridges from non-reputable retailers, these include the inherent risk that comes with using any product of questionable quality. Based on Epson calculations, the total cost saving over 5 years to print the maximum number of A4 pages on the highest ReadyPrint Max subscription plan compared to the average total cost to print the same number of pages on the 30 best-selling consumer A4 inkjet cartridge printers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK (IDC, Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker, 2021 shipments, published Q2 2022). Total cost calculation for ReadyPrint Max includes one-off activation fee and monthly subscription. Total cost calculation for comparable printers includes cost of printer and associated genuine cartridges (IDC, Hardcopy Peripherals Consumables Tracker, 2021 shipments, published Q1 2022).
